Toothbrush Love

Is it weird to love my toothbrush as much as I do? I don't even know which specific one it is -- just that it's an Oral-B.

It is weird, huh?

I don't care. I love my toothbrush.

A bargain find

I love what I can find for just 25cents. I wish Polaroid still made film. *sigh*

Slush puppies

Spotted these at the store for $1 a box and had to have them.

It's was totally worth my dollar. The popsicles are definitely more slush rather than solid.

Though I do like these, one problem I have with them
Is that you can't stop at just one.

A little support

I have a bad back (herniated disc) and it's definitely not fun, especially when I'm making long drives. So when I spotted this at my local Dollar Tree, I thought "Why not? It's only $1."

Let me tell you, this thing is so great! It gives me the lumbar support that I need.

The only thing I don't like about it is that there isn't a way to attach it to my car seat. Whenever I get into my cat, I have to take some time time to get it situated and whenever I get out of my car, sometimes it likes to come with me. I think I'll have to make something to attach it so I don't feel as hassled.

Otherwise, if you have a Dollar Tree nearby, I recommend you give it a shot. You don't have to have a bad back to enjoy the benefits. It feels good on your back if you've been driving for a long time or if you sit in a chair all day for work.

And it's $1.

Luggage

I'm trying to find some great luggage.  I want it to be light and tough.  Oh, and with 4 spinning wheels.  I don't know how I went for so long with just two wheels.  Four is just so much better. Most importantly, it has to be able to withstand the abuse of those dudes handling luggage at the airport.  I swear, I think they just beat the crap out of your luggage on purpose.  I've read the tags on some of the luggage that says even though they have a manufacturer's warranty, the piece aren't covered if they're damaged by a third party (i.e., the airport).

Then what happens if your luggage is damaged by the airport gorillas?  How do you proof that they beat the shit out of your $200 suitcase?

And here's another question: How do you prove TSA took stuff out of your checked bag when they perform a "random search" of your bag, hmmm?  I've even had my checked bag come back to me searched and with the WRONG lock put back on it!  Come on!!  Seriously?!?

So I'm looking around.  I have a sweet Heys brand carry-on that's considered their hybrid bag because it's a cross between soft side and hard.  So I've been scoping out their line even more.  I like the bold colors and designs that they have for their hard side suitcases, but will they come out unscathed and hole-free if they got bashed during handling?  I just keep picturing a my suitcase on the baggage carousel with a huge hole and my clothes just dangling.

Someone recommends Volcom.

I currently have Swiss Army brand for my checked bag.  It's nice.  Four wheels that spin and roll smoothly.  The telescopic handle doesn't pull out as easily anymore because I think it got bashed at the airport during handling.  And the color is like a red/black.  It's cool.  I love that I can spot my luggage pretty easily.  You'd think people would catch on and not have so much black or blue luggage.

Any other suggestions?

Magnum Ice Cream Bars

I suspect you've seen the commercials for these Magnum Ice Cream Bars, right?

At first, I wasn't sure if the name was the wisest choice because when I hear the word "magnum", I think of condoms.  But maybe that's just me.

I spotted them on sale at the local grocery store and had a coupon for them, which would make the box of 3 only $1.  I can sacrifice $1 in the name of "research", right?  Plus, they're ice cream bars.  It's pretty hard to screw those up.

This box is the Double Caramel.  So what makes a "Magnum" Double Caramel Ice Cream Bar?

According to the box, it's "Vanilla bean ice cream dipped in a chocolatey coating, caramel sauce and Belgian Mile Chocolate."  Sounds pretty good if you ask me.

When biting into the ice cream bar, if a big piece of the chocolate coating came along with it, I still had that inner layer of chocolate coating and that gooey caramel, that's between the layers, to go.  I have to say that the vanilla bean ice cream is creamy and really quite good.  The Belgian Chocolate is definitely better than just your basic milk chocolate.

I admit, I've gone thru two boxes of the Magnums this week.  My first box box was just the "Classic" and then of course the Double Caramel.  There are two other varieties -- Almond and Double Chocolate.

I'd have to say that the Magnum Ice Cream Bars are definitely better than your average ice cream bar.  I'd buy them again.

I totally suggest that you give them a try.

I think they're really good.  I just don't know if they're "pay full price" good.  That's just me though.

Hope In A Jar

One of my favorite products.  From Philosophy, this is their moisturizer, "Hope in a Jar".

I was a Proactiv Gentle Solution girl for years.  Yes, years.  I got tired of paying for those shipments and the products didn't seem to do much for me since I've gotten older and the time I generally break out really bad is right before my period, so it's more hormonal and I hear there isn't too much we can do about those.  Ahhh... the joys of being a woman.

I had heard so many wonderful things about Philosphy and thought I should give them a try.  Their fragrances are wonderful, their cleanser is great (it really cleans and my skin doesn't feel tight after I pat dry like some cleansers can leave the skin), so why not try the moisturizer, right?

This Original "Hope in a Jar" is meant for all skin types and doesn't have the SPF in it, like another formula.

It's not too thick to me and sinks into the skin without leaving it feel greasy, while the very light fragrance isn't overpowering in any way.  I also like that I don't have to use a lot to cover my face and neck.  I just dab my fingertip in and that's all I need.  I guess that dab is about the equivalent of just under a pea-size.

The jar you see in the picture is their mondo-sized 8oz. tub.  I just had to get it while it was on special on QVC, with their awesome EasyPay option.  EasyPay rocks!

I highly recommend you give "Hope in a Jar" a try.  There's a reason why it's voted one of the best by consumers and Beauty experts alike.  You can even buy the small travel-sized jar to test it out.  I even have one for travel of course.

Gym Grunters

When men lift weights at the gym, maybe grunt loudly helps them lift that big, bad weight.

But do they realize that it gets annoying after a while and it's certainly not a turn on?

These were at the Cancun airport. Is it me or are warnings about smoking not this blunt in the States?

It definitely does get the point across.

Colgate 360 Surround

I was shopping (okay, more like wandering) around in my local Target store.  It was one of those "let's see if anything catches my eye" kind of days.  Ever have those?

And I am a fan of those wonderful CLEARANCE end caps.  Who doesn't like getting a great deal, right?

Cruising thru the Health & Beauty, I spotted toothbrushes on an end cap.  Hmmm... What did I spy?  The Colgate 360 Surround toothbrush -- at 1/3 of the regular price.  Why not give it a shot?  I was due to replace my toothbrush anyway and to get it at a great price, it wouldn't hurt.

I checked out the packaging to read up on what set this toothbrush apart from the others.  Who would've thought that there was so much toothbrush "technology".  This baby has "surround bristles", a "wraparound cleaner", along with a tongue and cheek cleaner built-in.

What does all of the mean?  This toothbrush is suppose to help get our teeth and mouth cleaner for healthier gums and fresh breath.  But I've heard that before.

Brought this baby home and used it before going to bed.  Okay, where the no-slip grip is placed on the handle seems pretty perfect for me.  And it actually felt nice.  Those "surround" bristles took just a second to get use to but I could definitely feel them reach to my gum line, which felt really nice -- almost like a little gum massage.  Ha.  I did feel as if I had gotten a better tooth brushing from using the Colgate 360 Surround.

This tongue and cheek cleaner side of the toothbrush... good idea for the tongue, since that is where a lot of bad breath bacteria likes to hang out.  But I don't think the inside of my cheeks like it.  It seems to be too rough for my mouth, especially when I'm brushing along the sides of the my top teeth.  It's managed to irritate the tissue so much that I feel a canker sore coming on.  Ugh.  Great.  I hate those.:-/

All in all though, it's a great toothbrush.  Would I have paid $4 for it?  Probably not.  Though I probably would pay the $4 if it didn't irritate the inside on my cheek like it has.

UPDATE 5/31/2011: Yep, the canker sores have arrived.  They're on the inside on my cheek and where the toothbrush rubbed and irritated.  So I'm going to be a tad cranky until they go away because I can't eat some foods without my mouth stinging.  Grrr... :-(

ANOTHER UPDATE 6/12/2011: I did e-mail Colgate about this and they promptly replied to my e-mail the next day and within a few days, I received coupons in the mail for their products, along with a coupon for a FREE Colgate toothbrush.  Well done, customer service. :-)

Amusement Park Photo Booths

I love old-school photo booths. The digital ones just don't seem right to me. Maybe it's the smell of the fixer that I like. And the prints just seem more "real" to me.

"Bridesmaids"

Judd Apatow, the man behind "Knocked Up" and "40-Year Old Virgin", brings us "Bridesmaids".

Having been touted to be the female version of "The Hangover", I knew I'd have to see "Bridesmaids".  It's not very often that a movie comes along with a strong comedic female cast.  I don't know why... for some reason many female-led comedies haven't been as funny as their counterparts.  I knew I had to give this movie a chance.  Look at that cast!

I'm not an SNL watcher, so I only knew Kristin Wiig and the other ladies from other roles they've played.  I've always been a fan of Melissa McCarthy since her "Gilmore Girls" days, so I was really curious to see what she would bring to the table.

For any woman planning a wedding, she can only hope that the antics that she and her own girlfriends get into before the Big Day are even remotely like the situations these ladies find themselves in.   During the bridal salon scene, I found myself laughing so hard that I cried.  And then even after the scene had ended, I found myself still giggling and shaking in my seat as I tried to stifle the chuckling as my mind just kept going back to what I had just seen on the screen.  The best way I can describe it is like when you try to stifle a sneeze -- it just doesn't work.

This movie not only showcases some extreme, yet hilarious, situations, it also focuses on the friendships that the characters share with each other.  What do you do when your best friend of over 20 years all of the sudden has another best friend who's beautiful, successful, and rich?  How do you compete with that?

And then add the other stresses that have managed to pile on top of Wiig's character.   There is some truth to the saying that when you've hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go but up.  You can't help but root for her.

Real and true friendships survive anything and this movie shows that we will do anything and everything for someone we love so they'll be happy.

I highly recommend this movie.  Hell, see it more than once!  I did!  And it's just as funny the second time around.  It's a feelgood movie.  You're going to laugh.  You're going to cry (because you're laughing so hard).  You might find yourself crushing on one of the men of the movie. ;-)

Knowing that the movie was co-written by two women (Wiig and Annie Mumolo, whom you'll spot in the film) endeared me to it more.  To me, it meant that there was some truth behind what was being written.  I feel that only women can really get what goes on in a woman's head.  It doesn't matter how great of a writer a man is, he doesn't get "it" all of the time.  Only a woman truly understands.

The only thing I can say that disappointed me about this movie was that I would have loved to have seen what these girls could get into if it had taken place in Vegas.  But then again, it could've just ended up being a "Hangover" rip-off.  I don't want that.

As women, we can definitely get into our own trouble.  No boys needed.

I cannot wait for this to be released on DVD/Blu-Ray because I have a feeling the bonus features are going to make me pee my pants.

I'd love to know what you think.
